Unlocking Timenergy: A Live Talk with Dave McKerracher

This Tuesday, August 12 at 7 p.m. US Central Time, Dave McKerracher, founder of YouTube’s Theory Underground and author of Timenergy will join us for a talk inspired by his years of learning as well as his current project. Beyond left or right critiques of capitalism, state, or power, McKerracher will, with the help of thinkers including Wendell Berry, help us get to a root of all our crises commonly neglected by critical theory. 

Dave and Ann have moved to his family’s farm to start a new stage of their lives, grounded in place. I’ve interacted with Dave and Ann on their platforms and they have on ours–we are on a similar journey.

Dave will speak for 45 minutes to an hour. His main aim will be to introduce the idea of “Soul Soil Systems” based on “Nature, Nurture and Natality, for the sake of humans having their Timenergy, Talent, and Tutelage.” He will present these ideas as “alternatives to the destruction of life, commons, and its production of the post class fractured mass.” These problems are, in his view, all products of late capitalism.

McKerracher’s books are: Waypoint: Timenergy, Critical Media Theory, and Culture War and TIMENERGY: Why You Have No Time or Energy. His talk will employ his unique terminology which we find engaging, approachable and relatable.
