On Friday, August 18, we have a special speaker you won’t want to miss! Gavin Schaefer, botany extraordinaire, will be teaching a two-part course on all things native plants. You’ll learn the basics, like what even is a native plant, as well as how to start planting them THIS FALL!
Session One: Friday, August 19 at 7 p.m. US Central Time with live Q&A
Session Two: Friday, September 19 at 7 p.m. US Central Time with live Q&A
Here’s a little more about Gavin:
After graduating from Rockhurst University with his Bachelor’s in Biology, he worked as a botanist for the Missouri Department of Conservation and the Institute of Botanical Training. He has since joined Johnson County Parks and Rec as a Natural Resource Technician conducting species inventories, invasive species removals, and prescribed fire. He volunteers his time tabling, teaching, and collecting seed for nonprofits KC Wildlands and Deep Roots. You can find him birding, botanizing, lichening, mothing, and fishing in-and-around the Kansas City Metro.
